Islip Goes Purple is a month-long initiative designed to unite The Town of Islip in raising awareness of mental health, substance use disorder and celebrating those in recovery. All townships are encouraged to “go purple” and hold events throughout National Recovery Month in September.

JAMIE RYAN ATKINSON

August 7, 1981- June 27, 2025

The Town of Islip Opioid-Heroin Task Force and Islip Goes Purple mourns the loss of Jamie Atkinson. Jamie was a key member of Islip Goes Purple and always volunteered his service at all high profile events. Jamie hosted Meet and Greet events at Sayville Community Ambulance Company,  a key force in hosting annual Drug Take Back Events, and was an advocate for those in recovery. Rest in Peace Jamie. You will be missed.
